A tire is a vital component of the car. They support your car's weight, transmit traction, torque, and braking forces to the road surface, absorb road shocks, and maintain and change the direction of travel. Whether you are a new or an experienced driver, we are sure you will find the below information about tires useful.

Different Parts of a Tire

Here are a few basic parts of a tire that you should know:

Tread - This is the area that comes in contact with the driving surface. Almost every tread pattern is specific to a manufacturer. Tread patterns on modern tires are designed to address different problems (such as hydroplaning on wet pavement) that drivers face while driving on different surfaces.

The sidewall - Connects the tire's bead and tread. Sidewalls are usually made from rubber reinforced with steel cords or fabric (for superior strength). Sidewalls contain essential information, such as mandatory warnings and manufacturers' codes.

The bead - The bead is the part that is in contact with the rim, usually made from high-strength rubber reinforced with steel wire. It is designed to form a seal that prevents air leakage and the tire from shifting to the rim.

Different Types of Tires

All-season tires- All-season tires perform satisfactorily year-round. However, they do not perform as well as snow tires on snow-covered pavements.

High-performance tires- As the name implies, these tires are specially designed to offer sporty handling and superior grip and responsiveness. Their treads usually have shallower grooves.

All-terrain tires- They perform on both on and off-road. They have a stiffer sidewall that offers superior protection against punctures.

Average Tire Life

Tires usually last for 40,000 - 80,000 miles. How long your tires last will depend on many factors, such as whether you maintain them periodically, your driving habits, and the driving conditions you encounter. Follow these tips to make your tires last longer

➢ Maintain proper tire pressure
➢ Rotate your tires regularly
➢ Slow down on rutted, pothole-ridden roads
➢ Do not install mismatched tires
➢ Never overload your car
